Overview
Context
For the LA Gladiators' 2021 season launch, I led creative direction across two production shoots—an in-studio session at HQ for b-roll, GIFs, and portrait photography, and a full-scale shoot at SoFi Stadium for the roster reveal and media week assets.
Problem
We needed broadcast-ready photography and video across talent, venue, and marketing contexts with a tight schedule and limited budget. The original run-of-show didn't account for travel time between onsite locations or b-roll capture between walk points—and shoot day opened with 1-2 hour delays.
Process
I built the studio shoot from the ground up and led both productions end-to-end. The morning of the SoFi shoot I re-timed the entire run-of-show on the fly to absorb 1-2 hour delays, ditching the original spreadsheet and rebuilding it live in Google Calendar so the updated schedule was on my Apple Watch with 10-minute walk notifications. On set I directed a team of 6—2 photographers alongside the Head of Video and 3 videographers—while managing wardrobe, location scouting, and every logistical layer myself.
Impact
Delivered a complete asset library across both shoots that shipped across OWL broadcast, social, and press—setting the visual tone for the Gladiators' 2021 season despite conditions that required real-time problem solving from the jump.
